My Canada & New England Cruise With Royal Caribbean

In October we went on A Canada New England Cruise on Royals Serenade of the Seas. We Flew into Boston a couple days before so we could see some sites in Boston before the cruise. We had a late flight after the cruise so thought that would be plenty of time in Boston. There was so much to see and do in Boston that we wished we had chosen a longer pre- or post-Cruise stay in Boston.

Boston really is a place to learn the history of this great country. We saw Plymouth Rock which commemorates the location where Europeans first set foot onto what's now U.S. soil. The Plymouth Plantation and Grist Mill were very educational and interesting. We were also able to spend a little time at each of the following. The Salem Witch museum, The Wax museum, the New England aquarium and the Boston tea party. We rode the city view hop on hop off Boston Trolley Sightseeing tour but did not have time to visit everything we wanted to.

Day 2: Portland Maine. In Portland we decided to do something a little different so we went on the Portland firetruck city tour. Portland was another place that had a lot of history. The houses were connected and the only way you could tell one place from the other was the color they are painted. It really is a beautiful town.

Day 3: Bar Harbor Maine. Bar Harbor is the gateway to Acadia National Park. We took a trolley tour that went through Acadia National Park, Cadillac mountain and a tour of the town. The fall colors were so beautiful that they let us in awe. We took pictures, but the pictures just could not catch all the beauty. You have to be there to really enjoy the fall colors.

Day 4: Saint Johns (Bay of Fundy) Saint John was another fun place to visit. We took the big pink bus hop on hop off sightseeing tour. Some more beautiful fall colors. We enjoyed listening to the narrator on the bus so much that we decided to stay on the bus and hear the whole tour before we got off for any of the stops. We really enjoyed hearing the history of Saint Johns. One of the highlights was the Skywalk Saint John and reversing falls.

Day 5: Day at Sea Activities for everyone, a day to make new friends or just relax and enjoy.

Day 6 Halifax Nova Scotia As we got off the ship there was a man playing the bag pipes and welcoming us to Canada. Something interesting to me was that Halifax was founded as a naval base, didn’t look like Naval bases I have been on. Here again we took the big pink bus sightseeing tour. So many magnificent buildings, historic architectures, beautiful scenery and friendly welcoming people.

One thing we noticed in every port was the lighthouses.

The Cruise staff were wonderful making sure we were all well taken care of, but for me the highlight of the cruise was the last night when they had the international Parade of Nations. They have over 60 different nationalities working together onboard the ship and each countries flag were held up high as they mentioned how many they had from each country. Was a beautiful sight to see and you could feel the love they have for each other.
