Oceania Cruises – Your Next Cruise?

brent jensen morris murdock travel oceania cruiseMy wife and I sailed on the Oceania Marina which holds about 1,250 passengers. I was excited to learn that the President of Oceania Cruises, Bob Binder was on our sailing. I was able to meet with Bob and I asked him to give me 3 reasons why my clients would want to sail with Oceania. His response:

  1. Our Food! Oceania Cruises is the cruise line for “foodies”
  2. Our Service! We believe we have the hardest working crew at sea!
  3. The décor and comfort of our ships.

The Food

Well I certainly agree with Bob on the food! I think I had some of the finest meals on my life on Oceania! Not only do they have great food at the normal dining room, but they also have several specialty restaurants that are out of this world! And the best part is there’s no additional charge for the specialty restaurants! Inspired by master chef, Jacques Pépin, your culinary experience aboard Oceania will be nothing but spectacular. My favorite restaurant on board was Red Ginger, which is an Asian Fusion restaurant. It has won awards and is recognized as one of the best restaurants at sea! I also loved lunch every day at the Waves Grill. Where else can you go and order a surf and turf burger that consists of fillet mignon and lobster tail! I’m embarrassed to tell you how many of these burgers I ate on my cruise. You’ll also want to experience afternoon tea at least once on your cruise. This British tradition is truly a delight! Oceania also boasts the first “hands on” cooking school at sea which offers hands on instruction by a master chef. My wife and I took a cooking class and had a marvelous time!

The Service

oceania cruise blogI cannot even begin to tell you how friendly and hard working the staff is on board Oceania! Every time we turned around there was a staff member that wanted us to have the best vacation ever. When we boarded the ship the first day it was rather late in the afternoon and we were hungry from a long day’s travel. We asked a crew member where we could get something to eat. Instead of telling us where to go, he personally escorted us to the grill and then proceeded to tell us his recommendation on the menu. We also enjoyed all the included amenities on board. Oceania guests always enjoy free and unlimited soft drinks, bottled water, specialty coffees, teas, and juices. We always loaded up on free bottled waters before we left the ship on a shore excursion. I never felt we were being nickeled and dimed like you do on other cruise lines. I would also highly recommend a spa treatment at the Canyon Ranch Spa.

The Décor and Comfort of Oceania Ships

I loved the look and feel of our ship. The Marina was easy to get around and easy to navigate. I never felt lost like I do sometimes on larger ships. I also enjoyed our stateroom. Our bed was simply amazing which made for a great night’s sleep every night. I was also nice to have a separate shower and bathtub in our bathroom. Our balcony was also quite large which made it nice and easy to have a relaxing breakfast brought to our stateroom while we enjoyed the ocean and the scenery. The exquisite furnishings and art work throughout the ship also added to elegant ambiance. Oceania President, Bob Binder also stated that Oceania strives to be different than other cruise lines. They strive to be intimate and luxurious while still having a country club casual atmosphere.
